Dr Juliet McGrattan running

It’s nearly three years since I wrote my blog post, Following my Passion. I wanted to let everyone know that I was leaving my work as a GP and going full time into writing, speaking, running and generally spreading the word about physical activity for good health. What a three years it’s been!

Of course, like everyone, the pandemic has had a large influence on how my life has played out. But if we put that to one side, it’s been an interesting journey. I have felt my way along, made mistakes and learned a heap of new skills. I’ve met and been supported by some incredible people and learnt so much about myself. I feel I’m still finding my voice and working out the best way to put my knowledge and experience to good use. Ultimately, that’s what I want to do. To help people live a healthier and happier life, to share the benefits that being active can bring and help runners of all abilities to run healthily for years to come.

One of the things I’ve really enjoyed is podcasting. Having my own show and also being a guest on many others. I wanted to share my latest appearance with you because it was this chat with Jason and Greg on the Midlife Athlete Podcast that gave me the chance to reflect on life in general but in particular what running has done for me. Their great questions really revealed to me that it has been completely transformational. What would my life have been like without running?

You can listen to the episode here. As you listen, have a think about your own life and how running has helped you. Do you share any common themes with me? I’d love to know. Leave me a comment to share how running has been transformational for you.
